One of the biggest complaints I’ve always had with my skin tone, is that I could never find an exact match in any foundation. I always had to Frankenstein a few different foundations and my much loved Korean Beauty cushions just to get some semblance of a tone match. Enter Fenty Beauty Foundation by Rihanna, and oh my god is it a heaven send. With 4 shades at launch, I walked into Sephora on 5th Avenue NYC hoping for a miracle. Sadly they were sold out of most shades, but I took a walk to the Times Square branch and probably held my breath a little already planning which one I’d go to next if they were out too.
Lo and behold they had stock and the beauty sales person helped me find my match. And a match it was! I was ready to have to mix two different colors, but was shocked when the color matched my skin tone perfectly. For reference I’m around a MAC NC40 in Summer, and the color foundation that matched me was Fenty Beauty 290. The Sand Concealer was also a great match.
The foundation itself is very watery so it dries pretty quickly, but once it dries, it becomes a dewy matte on your skin with all day stay that I would compare to Estee Lauder’s Double Wear which on me lasts about 8 hours without powder or finishing spray. It’s medium to full coverage and is buildable.
Although I wish it came in a cushion compact like my favorite Korean brands, I can live with it being a bottled liquid foundation. It is definitely now one of my favorite foundations.
