Every red carpet is guaranteed to have some gorgeous hair moments, but there’s a rub: For everyone who is sitting at home watching the show on TV, you can’t always see the most stunning angles. Tonight’s SAG Awards were no different, and we’re doing something about it, ferreting out snaps that show the night’s best hair from angles you don’t always get to see (think artfully designed ponytails, updos that look magically arranged, and knotted creations that are truly works of art). Herewith, more details of the gorgeous looks that Saoirse Ronan, Maisie Williams, Kaley Cuoco, and more rocked on the carpet. We’ll update with more info on the products and techniques used as they emerge throughout the weekend.
The sleek ‘do stylist Mara Roszak did for Brie Larson had the same polished vibe as a bun or low ponytail, but an intricate knot made it stand out. The gloss came courtesy of a few products: Roszak started with L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Extraordinary Oil Lustrous Oil Serum on Larson’s damp hair and finished with the brand’s Advanced Haircare Nutri-Gloss High Shine Glossing Mist.
For more proof that a ponytail can be as glamorous as anything else: Sophie Turner’s mane was pulled back into a voluminous ponytail that felt completely ballgown-appropriate.
Christina Hendricks put the Mad Men polish to rest by going for an updo that was more romantic than retro.
Two glossy buns are better than one when it comes to standout red-carpet hair. Queen Latifah went for double the ‘do with this slickly pulled-back style.
A loose bun was relaxed on Kathryn Hahn thanks to wisps left out to frame her face.
With straight strands and dark roots on display, Kristen Wiig’s ponytail felt a little rock star (and we loved it).
A side view was required to check out the artful messiness of Maisie Williams’ piled bun.
Kaley Cuoco and stylist Christine Symonds went for a high-fashion topknot, scraping her hair back and twisting it directly on her crown.
The volume and texture of Saoirse Ronan’s high-octane bun was pretty from every single angle, but we especially loved this side-glimpse of all that volume. Celebrity stylist Adir Abergel got height-help from John Frieda Luxurious Volume Perfectly Full Mousse applied to towel-dried hair prior to blow-drying.
Priyanka Chopra’s hair was pulled off her neck and gracefully tucked into a shape similar to a classic bow.
Spotted on Rooney Mara: two classics working together for a thoroughly modern vibe from the hands of stylist Adir Abergel (yep, he also worked on Ronan). A clean half-back look was pulled into a full ponytail, doubling down on all that glossiness.
