In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a little story about something that happened in a galaxy far, far away currently taking over pop culture. Star Wars fever is back with the upcoming December release of The Force Awakens, and we’re about to see branded merchandise everywhere. It’s all exciting, but we have what might be the most luxurious piece of the bunch to share with you exclusively. Disney Consumer Products teamed with Kay Jewelers to re-create the flick’s newest droid, BB-8, in gold and diamonds, the production of which took over 600 hours. The resulting piece has been appraised at $135,000 and will be auctioned off this December after being displayed at the Force 4 Fashion exhibit in New York. Proceeds from the auction will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Deets? This little guy is 4.25″ high, weighs a little over one and a half pounds, and is made of 18-carat yellow gold and 18 carats of diamonds (roughly 860).
In Star Wars lore, BB-8 is the droid that belonged to a Resistance fight pilot (a.k.a. a good guy). He’s got all the robotic adorableness associated with the more famous R2-D2, even causing Mark Hamill/Luke Skywalker to gush some. “They never cease to amaze me with what they’re able to come up with. I said, ‘How are you ever gonna top R2-D2, the most adorable droid in movie history?'” Add in some high-wattage jewels, and we’re totally on-board.
Excited about the movie? We’re predicting it’s about to make actress Daisy Ridley a major red carpet star.
